The Anglican Parish of Parkside
Emmanuel, Wayville and St Oswald's, Parkside

About the Parish

The Parish of Parkside is made up of one Congregation and two worship centres -- Emmanuel and St. Oswald's.  The parish seeks to be a diverse, active and inclusive community of Anglican Christian believers.  We seek to encourage varied liturgy and music and energetic lay leadership, are comfortable with young people and value children’s ministries.  We seek to be and to live the Gospel of God in a  way that Bible based and Christ centred, and is intellectually and spiritually challenging.

Emmanuel seeks at the Sunday morning service to be a warm and friendly community of faith enjoying the riches of the Book of Common Prayer.

St. Oswald's worship and parish life centres round the Sunday Holy Communion service and the morning tea that follows. This worship is prepared by three groups - liturgy planning, music planning and children's ministry planning - who work with the parish priest.
Liturgy planners meet weekly for a month at a time to look at the Bible readings set for each Sunday. They seek the inspiration of God so that the coming Sunday's preaching and the prayers declare the good news of god's love and salvation in the context of our lives and our world today.

Music planners meet every six weeks and decide the music for worship, using a variety of instruments and accompaniments, including music led by the singers.  They choose hymns and songs old and new that key in with the set Sunday Bible readings.

Children's ministry takes place in church as a regular part of the Sunday worship.  Young children work at tables at the front of the church, and the teenage group will move for some of their special fortnightly activities into the adjacent parish centre.  The children's ministry planners meet regularly and plan the Sunday themes and activities.

Once a month there is Parish Sharing at the morning tea.  Here matters of importance in the parish and in the society are discussed, guidance is offered to the Parish Council and announcements and new are shared.
